Welcome Back Twin Peaks!

So, if you hadn’t heard, the critically-acclaimed cult television show Twin Peaks (1990-1991) is finally coming back! Yup. That’s right. In 2016, Showtime will play host to a brand new series which will be written by series co-creators Mark Frost and David Lynch (with every episode being directed by Lynch) that will continue the story that was abruptly halted after the ABC series was canceled in its sophomore season. I am a huge Peaks fan and this news really got me excited - I mean, what could be better than damn fine coffee, cherry pie that’ll kill ya, and the smell of those Douglas firs?

So, if you’re like me, and have already started to plan your Peaks season three viewing party, here are a few great ideas found around the web of fans who really know how to Peaks-i-fy!

The Red Room © 2007-2014 GhoulFriday.com
This super-creative blogger over at GhoulFriday.com really went to town with their Twin Peaks-themed Halloween party. Complete with Black Lodge, White Lodge, and "Reality"-themed rooms, you'd really feel like a man from another place at this party! Their attention to detail (Tibetan rock throwing, caged spiders, donuts, and even poor dead Waldo and his cage) is mind-blowing!
Twin Peaks Cupcake © 2012-2014 Annie's Cupcakes
This London-based bakery cooked up some really clever Twin Peaks-inspired cupcakes. Their culinary skills included creating a chipped One Eyed Jack's poker chip, a damn fine cup of coffee, the chevron patterned floor of the Red Room, Laura's heart locket, the TP title cards, and "that gum you like is going to come back in style" quote.
Twin Peaks Dinner © 2014 Café Ghia
Café Ghia is a Bushwick, Brooklyn eatery that definitely has a Peaks undertone. From their signature Laura Palmer cocktail to this awesome themed dinner party, they definitely know what's up. (Someone tell me where I can find those chevron placemats? Because I definitely need them...) They also offer a Rural Juror cocktail which - come on, I mean, how cool is that?

Not every blogger is throwing a Peaks party. Oh no. This couple actually had a Twin Peaks-inspired wedding. If that's not dedication, I don't know what is. They went all out: hosting their wedding in a log cabin in NorCal, holding a Miss Twin Peaks contest, and a donut-covered cake. If that's not the coolest themed wedding you've ever heard of, I don't know what is.

Okay, so, maybe planning a Twin Peaks viewing party might be a little premature... But let's just say, I'm excited. What do you guys think? Are you looking forward to the new series? How would you plan your Twin Peaks-themed party? Anything these event planners left out? Let me know. And don't forget, the owls are not what they seem!

Downtown Anaheim: Center Street Promenade Flea Market

Knick knacks vendor at the monthly flea market
Living in California for six months, I was lucky enough to stay in Downtown Anaheim for a a good while. Center Street Promenade is a fantastic little gem at the cross streets of Harbor Blvd. and Broadway. With The Gypsy Den (my favorite, I recommend the sangria!), $1 taco Tuesdays at the cafeteria, Bar Beer, the Cheese Shoppe, a handful of kitschy shops and vegan restaurants, and weekly events, if you're stuck in Anaheim, Center Street Promenade is the place to go!
Center Street Promenade is the Anaheim hipster's paradise.

Just some vendors. Aren't the chachkies delightfully useless?
